SMPC Supports 2025 Brigada Eskwela in Antique, Batangas, and Makati

June 30, 2025

In Semirara Island, Caluya, Antique, SMPC supported eight public schools by donating monoblock chairs, desks, and various construction materials such as paints, brushes, and LED bulbs. The company also offered technical assistance for electrical, construction, and air conditioning repairs and provided IT support for school computer laboratories.

As the 2025–2026 school year approaches, public schools across the country face the ongoing challenge of preparing thousands of classrooms to provide safe and conducive learning environments.

In support of this national effort, integrated energy company Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC) actively participated in the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela 2025, empowering about 16,000 students in its host communities in Antique, Batangas, and Makati.

Anchored on its long-standing commitment to education and community development, SMPC mobilized employee volunteers to help repair and repaint classrooms, donate essential school supplies, and conduct readiness programs for both students and teachers.

“Building a strong future starts with empowering our youth,” said Maria Cristina C. Gotianun, SMPC President, COO, and Chief Sustainability Officer. “Our ongoing support for Brigada Eskwela reflects the malasakit and bayanihan at the heart of our culture. I thank our employee volunteers for helping prepare schools for a new year of learning.”

In Batangas, SMPC’s power subsidiaries—Sem-Calaca Power Corporation (SCPC) and South Luzon Power Generation Corporation (SLPGC)—donated supplies such as bond papers, brooms, and mops to 17 public schools in the City of Calaca and the Municipality of Balayan.

SMPC’s corporate office volunteers donated supplies and conducted an interactive learning session at San Jose Elementary School in Makati City.

SMPC regularly supports Brigada Eskwela through community-driven initiatives that promote inclusive, long-term development. Beyond school readiness, the company also implements programs in education, health, livelihood, and environmental stewardship across its areas of operation.
